On Saturday morning, the Northeast Aquatic Conference hosted its annual relay meet at Warren G. Harding High School. “This is the first conference meet of the season where all 8 teams put together different relays to race each other. This was also the first time we got to swim Akron Firestone, whois new to our conference this year,” stated Coach Carlo Cordon. “Firestone opened up the meet winning the 200 medley relay and setting a new meet record. We lost to Wooster in a few close relays, but we finished very strong at the end of the meet. Not enough to win this meet, but closeenough for us to believe in the process and to keep the championship meet in our sights.” Boardman relay winners include: Diving Relay of Gizzy Kelso and Madison Ricciuti, and the 400 Freestyle relay team of Jennah Markovitch, Alyssa DiNapoli, Alison Kuras, and Mikel Flatley.

Boy’s Team Scores:

The Boardman boys just narrowly missed winning the relay meet falling to Wooster. Right behind Boardman was a resurging Canfield. “We were already in the hole by 18 points since we didn’t have any divers. Going into the last event, we were tied for 2nd place with Canfield so our boys knew what they had to do. This last event had the entire natatorium on their feet with a race between Boardman, Firestone, and Wooster. We were behind the entire race until our anchorman, Matthew DunLany, dove in and closed the gap. He split one of his fastest lifetime splits and touched out the Wooster swimmer by .11 seconds to win,” stated coach Carlo Cordon.

Boardman relay winners include: 200 Butterfly relay team of Brendan Beam, Justin Yocum, Matthew DunLany, and Noah Basista. The 400 IM Relay of Noah Basista, Justin Yocum, Siman Mascola, and Matthew DunLany. The 200 Breaststroke relay of Jordan Stackpole, Justin Yocum, Carter Cailor, and Noah Basista, and the 400 Freestyle relay of Ben Henderson, Will Linker, Jordan Stackpole, and Matthew DunLany.

The Spartans will host Massillon Jackson in a dual meet at Youngstown State University on Thursday December 13th at 5:00PM.
