Spartan boys break pool record

Boy’s Tri Meet: Boardman 157, Canfield 79, Massillon 77,

The Boardman Boys broke a long standing pool record at the Perry High School Natatorium. “This was the last event of the meet. Coaches Chad DeAngelo and Ryan Ebie had the boys pumped up to race. For them to finish the meet by breaking this pool record was fantastic!” commented Coach Cordon. Members of this 400 free relay (3:43.28) include juniors Noah Basista, Jordan Stackpole, Will Linker, and Matthew DunLany. The record these boys broke was held by Canfield (Hunter, Graham, Braman, Davis). In addition to the record breaking 400 free relay, the same four boys won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:54.22.

Double event winners include: Noah Basista 200 IM (2:15.68) and 100 Fly (1:01.94), Matthew DunLany 200 Free (2:07.33) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.84).

Single event winners include: Teddy Anzevino 1 meter diving (176.20), Jordan Stackpole 100 freestyle (57.04), Will Linker 400 freestyle (4:34.91), and River Flatley 100 backstroke (1:05.34).

Girl’s Tri Meet: Boardman 158, Perry 91, Canfield 73

On Saturday, the Lady Spartan Swimmers traveled to Massillon Perry for a tri meet vs the Panthers and the Canfield Cardinals. “Our girls were coming off an excellent meet at the Christmas Invitational last weekend and had a very hard week of practice,” Coach Cordon stated. “They impress us with their dedication to detail and racing when tired.”

Mikel Flatley was the only double winner for the Spartans taking the 50 free (28.31) and the 100 butterfly (1:11.04).

Single event winners include: Madison Ricciuti in 1 meter diving (186), Jennah Markovitch 200 IM (2:47.85), Alyssa DiNapoli 100 backstroke (1:12.51), and Hayley Ho in the 100 breaststroke (1:22.30).

All three of the Boardman girls relays swept 1st place finishes. This included the 200 free relay that touched out the Canfield Lady Cardinals by 13 hundredths of a second. Members of this relay include Hayley Ho, Sarah Varga, Mikel Flatley, and Jennah Markovitch. The 200 medley relay team of DiNapoli, Ho, Flatley, and Kuras placed 1st (2:12.18), as did the 400 Free Relay of Casey Wert, Sarah Varga, Alison Kuras, and Alyssa DiNapoli with a time of 4:37.21.
