“Qualifying for the Division I State Swimming Championships is not an easy task. Coming back for Saturday night finals in 4 out of 5 events is an outstanding accomplishment for these young men. The guys started working to reach this goal on our first day of practice back in November. Now they own two school records and earned All-Ohio Honors for their efforts. It reinforces how powerful team chemistry and motivation can be in athletes reaching their potential. We are also very proud that this was our 17th consecutive year of qualifying swimmers for the Division I Swimming Championships. Coaching chemistry is also an integral part of this streak. Assistant coaches Carlo Cordon, Chad DeAngelo, and Ron Navarra are always inventing different ways to make our kids better. Having a strong parent support group caps it all off. They send us to clinics, feed our swimmers on away meets, and do whatever it takes to enhance our program.” (Coach Terry O’Halloran)
The Spartan swimmers and divers won both the boys and girls 2016 AAC Championships. The boys finished the dual meet season with a 12 – 3 record and the girls posted a 10 – 4 – 1 record. The end of the year banquet honoring the team will be held at the Avion on the Water Banquet Center Wednesday, March 9th at 5:30pm.
