Sectional Schedule: Boardman will depart from BHS Saturday, February 11, at 5:45am. Wewill arrive at CT Branin by 7:15am. Warm-ups begin at 7:30am and conclude at 8:55am. The meet starts at 9:00am. The meet will conclude around 2pm. All swimmers are required to return home on the bus. All swimmers are required to eat before you come and pack a sack lunch including a drink. We will provide Gatorade, bottled water, and energy bars. The Swim Booster Club will feed the team on the way home. Meet Procedures: Only swimmers entered in the meet will permitted on the pool deck. Swimmers are not permitted to enter the stands during the meet. No glass containers or loud speakers are permitted on deck. Swimmers are not permitted to shave down in the natatorium or locker rooms. Relay swimmers must tell the timers in your lane the name of your team and the order of the swimmers in the relay. Swimmers must report to the starting blocks in the right heat and lane for your event. If you miss your event you are disqualified for the event and the rest of the meet. Officials can disqualify a swimmer or relay for un-sportsman like conduct. If that happens, OHSAA rules require the swimmer involved be disqualified from the tournament and sit out the first 2 meets next season. Parents’ Information: Doors for spectators will open at 7:30am. Admission fees for adults are $6 and $4 for students. Absolutely no flash photography is permitted during the starts of the races.
Both Teams Post 12 Wins against 2 Losses for the year
On Friday night the Boardman High School swim teams traveled to Massillon Perry High School. The Spartans easily won both meets by the scores of 147 to 38 on the girl’s side and 142 to 41 on the boy’s side. In the twenty-four event meet format Boardman took first and second places in twenty-one events. In the swimming events, three girls and three boys posted double wins in the meet while both Boardman divers also placed first. Junior diver Megan Janak posted a season high 192.33 to win the girl’s diving. Senior Dominic Mariano scored 250.15 points to claim first place in the boy’s diving. Junior Callen Aulizia won took firsts in the 50 and 100 free events. Junior Sarah Murray won both the 50 and 100 Freestyle events. Sophomores Jennah Markovitch and Mikel Flatley were double winners. Markovitch won the 200 IM and the 100 Fly while Flatley posted wins in the 200 and 400 free events. Two freshmen also had double wins. Noah Basista claimed victories in the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke and DunLany won the 100 Backstroke and 100 Butterfly.

Jennah Markovitch and Callen Aulizia from Boardman and Timmy Kubacki from Austintown Fitch were selected as “Top Performers of the Meet.”

Spartans move to 8 and 2 dual meet records with wins over Massillon Washington.
The Boardman High School swim teams dominated the 2017 A. A. C. Championships winning 20 out of 24 events. In the winning effort the Spartans snapped 6 Warren G. Harding pool records and eleven A. A. C. records. Two relays led the way. Freshmen Matt DunLany and Noah Basista teamed with Juniors Kyle Kimerer and Callen Aulizia to shatter the 200 medley and 200 free relay records. Their time in the medley relay was 1:36.70. The previous meet record of 1:43.49 was set by Canfield in 2016. The pool record of 1:39.88 was set by Canfield in 2008. In the 200 free relay, the same four boys posted the record time of 1:28.22. In 2015 the Warren G. Harding relay team set both the A. A. C. and the pool record with the time of 1:29.84.
