The Boardman Boys won only 3 out of the 12 events, yet used their depth to win the NEAC Championships. “This conference is a good gauge to see how we rank among the best swimmers in the District. We were extremely proud of how our kids swam as a team! Last year, we lost this meet by 2 points. Our boys were motivated to not let that happen again,” said Coach Cordon of the Spartans. Freshman R.J. Keating won the 11 dive event by scoring a 389.95. “RJ might only be a freshman, but he comes in with a lot of diving experience.” Junior Ethan DunLany placed 1st in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:55.95 and 3rd in the 200 Free (1:50.54). Junior Captain
Caleb Satterfield placed 1st in the 100 Breaststroke (1:02.53) and 2nd in the 200 IM (2:04.68). “This conference meet comes at the right time for our team. We just finished up our two a day practices, and our swimmers were excited to see what hard work can do for them. By the end of the meet, close to 100% of our kids had their lifetime best swims, stated Cordon. Coach Cordon was also named NEAC Boys Coach of the Year by the other coaches in this conference. “I am honored to receive this award from my peers, but it’s definitely a shared award with Coaches Chelsea DeAngelo and Mark Brooks.”
