Over the past 32 years of varsity swimming, Boardman has earned 15 NISCA All-American time standards, 65 Academic All-Americans, 84 Ohio State Qualifiers, and 80% win to loss record in dual meets. The girls earned a national bronze medal for the 2015-16 season by achieving a 3.47 team GPA. The boys earned a silver medal for their 3.51 team GPA. Both teams are ranked academically in the top ten percent of all high school swim teams in the country.
Congratulations to our 2015-2016 team for a number of outstanding accomplishments. Boardman now has five new school records, the boys and girls won AAC Team Champs, the boys placed first at the NEAC Champs, and we qualified swimmers for the 17th consecutive year to the Division I State Championships. At states, Callen Aulizia, Kyle Kimerer, Aaron DunLany and Ethan Schwendeman earned All-Ohio Honors and broke both the 200 and 400 free relay records. Individually Callen placed fourth in the 50 free and 14th in the 100 free. Aulizia was also selected as the 2016 “NEAC Swimmer of the Year”. Aaron DunLany placed 23rd in the 500 free. DunLany now holds school records in the 500 and 200 free events and was voted “Male Swimmer of the Meet” for the NEAC Championships. Corie Kuras set a new school record in the 50 freestyle and was selected as the “Female Swimmer of the Meet” for the AAC Championships. Aaron and Corie were also selected by the coaches to receive the “Michael J. Villano Award” at the end of the season banquet. The 2016-17 season is now under way. There are 49 athletes on the team. Our returning seniors are Rina Andreatta, Dillon Cailor, Kelsey Calpin, Aidan Cervello, Richard Fisher, Allison Janak, Dominic Mariano, Lindsay O’Nesti, Madi Rast, Zoe Rice, Stephan Stanko, and Alexis Stutz. We are extremely proud of our athletes and their accomplishments in and out of the pool. Our goal is to continue to move the program forward in all aspects.
