Girl’s Tri Meet: Boardman 145, Canfield 92, Massilon 50
On Friday night, the Lady Spartan Swimmers traveled to Massillon for a tri meet vs the Tigers and the Canfield Cardinals. “Massillon traditionally has a very strong program and anytime we swim Canfield that motivates us to race,” mentioned Coach Carlo Cordon. The Spartan girls won all 12 events.
Double event winners include: Jennah Markovitch (Sr) in the 200 free (2:08.33) and the 500 free (5:4528), Mikel Flatley (Sr) in the 50 free (26.15) and the 100 fly (1:03.95).
Single event winners include: Sarah Varga (Jr) in the 200 IM (2:36.21), Allison Kuras (Sr) 100 Free (59.34), Alyssa DiNapoli (Jr) 100 Backstroke (1:05.58), and Abby Yocum (Jr) in the 100 Breast (1:16.92).
The 200 medley relay team of DiNapoli, Yocum, Flatley, and Kuras placed 1st (1:59.12), as did the 200 Free Relay of Yocum, Markovitch, Varga, and Flatley with a time of 1:48.58, and the 400 Free Relay of Markovitch, Varga, Kuras, and DiNapoli with a time of 4:04.53.
Boy’s Tri Meet: Boardman 139, Canfield 95, Massilon 50
The Boy’s Spartan swimmers had a strong showing against Massillon and Canfield. “Our boys are swimming tired but they keep pushing through and have set the bar pretty high,” mentioned Cordon.“They love racing and as a collective team, they are willing to swim any event we put them in. This gives us the flexibility to try them in new events and work in the younger swimmers.”
Double event winners include: Jordan Stackpole (Jr) 200 Free (1:52.26) and the 500 Free (5:14.50), and Noah Basista (Jr) in the 200 IM (2:01.45) and the 100 Breast (1:03.60).
Single event winners include: Matthew DunLany (Jr) in the 100 Fly (54.95), Will Linker (Jr) in the 100 Free (50.56) and River Flatley (Jr) in the 100 Back (58.08).
1st place relay places include the Medley team of Flatley, Basista, DunLany, Linker (1:41.50), and the 200 Free Relay of Basista, DunLany, Stackpole, and Linker (1:31.28).
