Coaches

The Boardman High School Swimming and Diving team is coached by Carlo Cordon, Chad DeAngelo, Chelsea DeAngelo and Ron Navarra (diving).  The coaches combine to bring over 55 years of coaching experience to the pool deck.

Carlo Cordon

Coach Cordon teaches social studies at Glenwood Middle School and coaches in the summer at Applewood Swim Club.  He has been teaching at Glenwood for the past 19 years.  Coach Cordon was also a prominent name on the swim team’s Top-25 list for many years in the 500 freestyle until he was ritualistically ousted from the list by Scott Dickens on a cold, dark and stormy day in the winter of 2001.

Coach Cordon has earned level four certifications by the American Swimming Coaches Association.  Only 10 percent of all swimming coaches in the world have reached this certification level.  Coach Cordon has taken BHS swimmers to the State Championship meet for the past twenty-one consecutive seasons.

Chad DeAngelo

Coach DeAngelo teaches science at Boardman High School and is a former team captain, three-time state qualifier and an All-American for the Spartan swim team.  He is also the head coach at Boardman Tennis and Swim Club in the summer.  Coach DeAngelo has earned a Level 2 Certification from the American Swimming Coaches Association

Chelsea DeAngelo

Coach DeAngelo teaches 5th grade science at Boardman Center Intermediate School.  She is a former swimmer for the Spartan Swim Team and also coaches in the summers.

Diving Coach: Ron Navarra

Diving Coach Ron Navarra is certified coach through the OHSAA and the AAU.  He graduated from YSU in 1994 with a degree in Human Performance and Exercise Science / Sports Management.
