28 Spartan athletes competed in the 15th annual Christmas Invitational Meet held at Canton McKinley’s C.T. Branin Natatorium. Close to 50 teams from all across the state of Ohio attended this championship format with prelims and finals.
“We are so proud with how well all of our kids competed at this meet,” said head coach Carlo Cordon. “Our bus left Boardman at 5:30AM with prelims starting at 8:00AM. We were very impressed by their dedication and how fast our kids swam while being tired. Many of them qualified for the championship finals at night.”
The Spartans were led by Noah Basista’s 2nd place finish in both the 100 butterfly andthe 100 breaststroke. In diving, Madi Ricciuti placed 12 and Teddy Anzevino placed 14th to lead the Spartan divers.
Junior Jordan Stackpole placed 7th in the 200 freestyle and 16th in the 100 butterfly. Will Linker placed 11th in the 200 free and 5th in the 100 free.
Mikel Flatley placed 10th in the 50 Free and 13th in the 100 butterfly.
Ali Kuras (placed 16th in the 50 free and 23rd in the 100 free.
Mason Rassega placed 22nd in 50 free. Matthew DunLany placed 5th in the 100 butterfly and 8th in the 500 free. Jennah Markovitch placed 12th in the 100 free and 15th in the 50 Free. Alyssa DiNapoli placed 14th in the 100 backstroke. River Flatley placed 13th in the 100 back. Hayley Ho placed 10th in 100 breaststroke. Abby Yocum 23rd in the 100 breasrstroke.
The relay team of Mikel Flatley, Ali Kuras, Alyssa DiNapoli, and Jennah Markovitch placed 5th in the 200 free relay and 7th in the 400 free relay.
The boys medley relay team of River Flatley, Jordan Stackpole, Mason Rassega, and Siman Mascola placed 7th. The 200 free relay team of Mason Rassega, Will Linker, Matthew DunLany, and Noah Basista placed 3rd and the 400 relay team of Will Linker, Jordan Stackpole, Matthew DunLany, and Noah Basista placed 3rd.
