On a cold and wintry night, the Spartans Swim and Dive Team heated up the waters at Beeghly Natatorium and defeated the Bulldogs on both sides of the meet.
The Lady Spartan Swimmers and Divers won the meet 128.5-57.5. Leading the Spartans to victory included double winners sophomore Ella Huston in the 200 IM (2:36.26) and the 100 Backstroke (1:11.08) and freshman Alexis Mihok in the 50 Free (25.99) and the 100 Butterfly (1:05.73). Single event winners include junior Casey Wert in the 200 Free (2:20.49), senior Alyssa DiNapoli in the 100 Freestyle (:59.42), and junior Ava Velasquez in the 500 Free (6:19.08).
The Boardman girls also snagged 3 out of the 3 relays including the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay with members Alexis Mihok, Abby Yocum, Sarah Varga, and Alyssa DiNapoli, and the 200 Free Relay swimmers Ella Huston, Ava Velasquez, Allyson Schwendeman, and Casey Wert. The Spartans now stand at 8-1 for the season.
The Boardman Spartan Boys Swim and Dive Team defeated the Poland Bulldogs to keep their unbeaten streak alive. Setting a new school record in the 1 meter diving was junior Teddy Anzevino by tipping a 301.80 off the boards.
Boardman’s double event winner included senior captain Jordan Stackpole in the 200 Free (1:56.36) and the 100 Breaststroke (1:08.81).
Single event winners included senior Matthew DunLany in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.98, senior Noah Basista in the 50 Free (:22:07), senior River Flatley in the 100 Fly (:55.15), senior Will Linker in the 100 Free (:51.00), and freshman Caleb Satterfield in the 500 Free (5:40.15).
The Spartans also captured the 200 Medley Relay (1:40.30) with members River Flatley, Noah Basista, Matthew DunLany, and Will Linker, and the 200 Free Relay with swimmers Siman Mascola, Carter Cailor, Will Linker, and Noah Basista (1:32.79). The Spartans record now stands at 9-0.
