Girl’s Team Score: Boardman 132, Austintown 52
The Boardman Girls won 9 of the 12 events to defeat the Fitch Falcons on December 12th at Beeghly Natatorium. The depth of the Spartans proved to be too much for the Falcons.
Setting the tone was the lone double winner of the meet, sophomore Lexxi Mihok, in the 200 IM (2:28.99) and the 100 Butterfly (1:06.02).
Single winners of the meet include senior Casey Wert in the 200 Freestyle (2:45.35), junior Hayley Ho in the 50 Free (27.53), senior Ally Schwendeman in the 100 Freestyle (1:00.15), and junior Ella Huston in the 100 Backstroke (1:06.06).
The Spartans nabbed all three relay events including the 200 Medley with a time of 2:00.17 (Huston, Basista, Mihok, Ho), the 200 Freestyle Relay in 1:53.83 (Basista, Wert, Schwendeman, Russo), and the 400 Freestyle Relay in 4:07.79 (Mihok, Ho, Wert,
Schwendeman).
Boy’s Team Score: Boardman 116, Austintown 66:
The Boardman Tankers won 6 out of 12 events to pull away from the Falcons. “Our boys may have been too confident going into this meet and underestimating the talent that Austintown has on their team. They have a returning state qualifier on their team along with many returning varsity lettermen. They touched us out in the opening relay and that was a real wake up call,” stated Coach Cordon. The Spartans prevailed and
used their team depth to defeat the Falcons.
The double event winner for the Spartans was Sophomore Caleb Satterfield in the 200 IM (2:11.46) and the 100 Breaststroke (1:06.69).
Single event winners include senior diver Teddy Anzevino (263.03), senior Siman Mascola in the 50 Free (24.00), and sophomore Ethan DunLany in the 100 Free (53.76).
The Spartans won the 200 Freestyle sprint relay in a time of 1:35.69 and included relay members junior Carter Cailor, Caleb Satterfield, Siman Mascola, and Ethan DunLany.
The Spartan Girls (3-0-1) and the Spartan Boys (4-0) will take on the Poland Bulldogs on Monday December 14th at Beeghly Natatorium. This meet will be streamed live on www.ysnlive.com beginning at 5PM.
