
Boy’s Scores: Boardman 208, Akron Firestone 155, Warren G Harding 101, Canfield 55
With standing room only at Warren G. Harding High School Natatorium, the Spartan Boy’s Swimming and Diving team continued their winning streak by defeating Akron Firestone, Warren Harding, and Canfield.
Teddy Anzevino continued his run on the 1 meter board with a first place finish and with a score of 329.10 which broke Boardman’s team record set back in 1993 by Dan Anzevin (289.76).
Double event winners include: Will Linker in the 200 Free (1:53.68) and the 100 Free (50.15), Matthew DunLany in the 100 Fly (52.17) and the 500 Free (4:58.44), and Noah Basista in the 200 IM (1:56.71) and the 100 Breast (1:02.50). Touching the wall first in the relay events include Boardman’s Medley Relay members River Flatley, Noah Basista, Matthew DunLany, and Jordan Stackpole (1:41.19), and the 400 Freestyle Relay of Will Linker, River Flatley, Matthew DunLany and Noah Basista (3:24.46).
Boardman Boys now stands at 10-0 on the season. They will try to extend their unbeaten streak as they prepare for their final two regular meets of the season.
Girl’s Scores: Akron Firestone 213, Boardman 154, Canfield 112, Warren Harding 41
The Spartan Ladies continued their gritty run by defeating Warren Harding and Canfield, but falling to state ranked Akron Firestone.
Leading the Spartans on the 1 Meter boards and breaking a school record for 6 dives was senior Madison Ricciuti with a score of 249.38. The old record was set back in 1996 by Kelli Yozwiak (244.35). Madison now owns two school records in the diving events (6 dive and 11 dive).
The Boardman Girl’s record now stands at 8-2.
The Spartans will finish their regular season run with their Senior Night on January 23 vs. the Fitch Falcons at Beeghly Natatorium, and January 25th vs GlenOak and McKinley in Canton.
