BHS finishes NEAC schedule with double victories

Girl’s Quad Meet: Boardman 191, Akron Firestone 182, Warren Harding 78, Canfield 62

The Boardman Girl’s team pulled an upset win over Akron Firestone in a Quad meet format with teams from Canfield and Warren Harding. The Boardman Girls only won two events but used their team depth to pull out the win. “Akron Firestone has quite a few returning state level competitors. They are well known for their traditional excellence. For our team to stay with them and pull the meet out during the 400 free relay at the end shows the competitiveness of our team. They like to race!” Coach Cordon exclaimed. 

Single event winners include: Mikel Flatley 50 Freestyle (25.14) and Madison Ricciuti 1 Meter Diving.

Boardman’s 200 Free and 400 Free relays placed first and sealed the meet for the Spartans, beating out rival Akron Firestone by .05 seconds! These members include: Mikel Flatley, Ali Kuras, Alyssa DiNapoli, and Jennah Markovitch.

The Girl’s record now stands at 10-2. The team will close out it’s season next week vs. Poland, GlenOak, and Canton McKinley.

Boy’s Quad Meet: Boardman 194, Akron Firestone 159, Warren Harding 89, Canfield 88

The Boardman Boy’s team remains undefeated after an impressive win against Akron Firestone, Canfield and Warren. “These boys are driven, and have set the bar pretty high. They know they still have some work to do to reach their goals during tournament time so this was a fantastic win, Coach Cordon explained.

Double event winners include: Will Linker 200 Free (1:48.96) and the 100 Free (49.36), Matthew DunLany 100 Fly (53.55) and 500 Free (4:54.19), Noah Basista 50 Free (22.12) and 100 Breast (1:01.05).

Single event winners include: Teddy Anzevino 1 meter diving (208.55), and River Flatley 100 Backstroke (57.52).

Boardman’s 200 Free relay team of Will Linker, Mason Rassega, Matthew DunLany, and Noah Basista placed 1st in a time of 1:30.54. Boardman’s 400 Free relay also placed 1st and includes relay members of Will Linker, Jordan Stackpole, Noah Basista, and Matthew DunLany.

The Boardman Boys record stands at 12-0 and will complete their regular season schedule against Poland, GlenOak, and Canton McKinley.
