Congrats to our 2020-2021 Captains!

These six student athletes have been voted as Captains for the 36th season of the Boardman High School Swim and Dive Team! Congrats to Seniors Teddy Anzevino, Jackson Behun, and Siman Mascola on the boys side, and Junior Ella Huston, and Seniors Ally Schwendeman and Casey Wert on the girls side. Look for them to do big things this year in terms of leadership, enthusiasm and accountability!

Boardman Tankers Take 17th in the State for Division 1

The “Five Guys” of Boardman Swimming… River Flatley, Jordan Stackpole,
Matthew DunLany, Will Linker, and Noah Basista capped off a great season by placing 17th overall in the Division 1 Swimming State Championships. Noah Basista finished off his career as a Spartan by making podium in two events during finals. In his first individual race, Noah placed 8th in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 50.70. In his second individual race of the night, Noah placed 7th in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 56.45. Matthew DunLany swam individually in the 100 butterfly event and placed 22nd with a time of 51.71. Moving up during prelims and placing 12th in the consolation finals in the 200 Medley Relay (1:36.05) were River Flatley, Noah Basista, Matthew DunLany, and Will Linker. This relay is considered to be All-Ohio for placing top 16. The 400 Freestyle relay also made some moves and finished 13th in consolation finals with a time of 3:09.90. This relay also went All-Ohio. Boardman Swimmers Qualify for State Championships; Boys place 3rd at District Championships and Return to State Championships for 21st Consecutive Year

The Boardman High School Boys Swim Team competed this past weekend at the Northeast Ohio District Championships held at Cleveland State University Busby Natatorium and placed 3rd behind North Canton Hoover and Hudson in a field of 41 teams. They qualified 2 relays and 2 individuals that will be represented at the Ohio High School Swimming State Championships held at Canton McKinley’s CT Branin Natatorium on Friday and Saturday February 2st and 22nd. “We had a great meet! We had 6 members of our District Team sick this week so we knew we had to keep their spirits up. We wanted them to go out there and just race
and try to get in as many kids into the State meet as possible. It came together at the right time,” Coach Cordon mentioned.
