Spartans Open 2013-14 Swim Season with Losses to North Canton Hoover:

The Spartan girls lost to North Canton by the score of 93-83 while the boys score was 126-58.  Coach Terry O’Halloran had this to say about the meet.  “We had some excellent early season races on both sides of the meet.  We were also missing 8 swimmers with school conflicts or injuries and didn’t have the depth to overcome a strong Hoover team.  Sophomores Andrew O’Nesti and Aaron Dunlany along with Juniors Tyler Calpin and David Zaitzew posted career best times in the first dual meet of the season.  Juniors Sarah Gonda and Brooke Bailey along with Seniors Jessica Hilk and Jordyn Markovitch raced well and grabbed five first places in their individual events.  The exciting news is that we 20 boys and girls that are new to varsity swimming this season.  In our 29 year history that would be the most new swimmers in any one year that we have had.  Already they have made excellent progress under the direction of Assistant Swim Coaches Carlo Cordon and Chad DeAngelo.  Diving Coach Ron Navarra also has 2 new freshman divers that are already earning team points.  Every year we use the season to prepare the athletes for their best times and scores for the tournament in February.  We are working very hard to make that happen again this year!”
