2017 Sectional, District, and State Meet Information

Sectional Schedule: Boardman will depart from BHS Saturday, February 11, at 5:45am. Wewill arrive at CT Branin by 7:15am. Warm-ups begin at 7:30am and conclude at 8:55am. The meet starts at 9:00am. The meet will conclude around 2pm. All swimmers are required to return home on the bus. All swimmers are required to eat before you come and pack a sack lunch including a drink. We will provide Gatorade, bottled water, and energy bars. The Swim Booster Club will feed the team on the way home. Meet Procedures: Only swimmers entered in the meet will permitted on the pool deck. Swimmers are not permitted to enter the stands during the meet. No glass containers or loud speakers are permitted on deck. Swimmers are not permitted to shave down in the natatorium or locker rooms. Relay swimmers must tell the timers in your lane the name of your team and the order of the swimmers in the relay. Swimmers must report to the starting blocks in the right heat and lane for your event. If you miss your event you are disqualified for the event and the rest of the meet. Officials can disqualify a swimmer or relay for un-sportsman like conduct. If that happens, OHSAA rules require the swimmer involved be disqualified from the tournament and sit out the first 2 meets next season. Parents’ Information: Doors for spectators will open at 7:30am. Admission fees for adults are $6 and $4 for students. Absolutely no flash photography is permitted during the starts of the races.

District Schedule and Qualifiers: The Northeast District I Swim Meet for girls and boys will be held at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium at Cleveland State University. 2451 Euclid Ave. Cleveland 44115. The meet will be on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 12 noon. Qualifying Boardman swimmers will leave BHS at 8:15 am that morning. All swimmers are required to return home on the bus. All swimmers are required to eat before you come and pack a sack lunch including a drink to eat during the day. We will provide Gatorade, bottled water, and energy bars. The Swim Booster Club will feed the team on the way home. We will return around 9pm. Only swimmers qualifying for the meet are permitted on the pool deck during the meet. For a female swimmer to qualify individually for districts, you have to finish in the top 2 places at the sectional meet or be in the remaining top 34 at-large times from all three sectional meets for a field of 40 swimmers in each individual event. Relays teams will qualify the top two places from each of the three sectional meets and pick the remaining top 14 at- large times for a field of 20 relay teams per event. Female divers will qualify 22 for the District Diving Championships at Cleveland State on Thursday, February 16 th at 11:30am. For a male swimmer to qualify individually for districts, you have to finish in the top 2 places in the sectional meet or be in the remaining top 24 at-large times from the 3 sectional meets for a field of 30 swimmers for each individual event. Relays teams will qualify the top two places from each of the three sectional meets and pick the remaining top 14 at-large times for a field of 20 relay teams per event. Male divers will qualify 22 for the District Diving Championships at Cleveland State on February 16 th at 6:30pm.

Parents’ Information: District I tickets will be on sale at 10:00am. Swim fans will lineup early to secure better seating options. I encourage all Spartan fans to sit in the same area. Admission fees for adults are $6 and $4 for students. Absolutely no flash photography is permitted during the starts of the races.

State Meet Qualifiers: There are four district meets across the state on February 18. For swimming the top two individual and relay places from the four districts meets automatically qualify for the state meet. Sixteen at-large times will also qualify for both relays and individual events for a field of 24 entries per event. In diving, the Cleveland District Division I girls will qualify the top 6 divers to the state meet. The boys will qualify the top 7 to the state meet. The official state qualifiers will be posted on www.OHSAA.org or www.NEDAB.ORG by Sunday afternoon on the 19th of February. Information on the 2017 Ohio State Swimming and Diving Championships, including qualifiers, the itinerary, meet schedule, and ticket information will be posted and sent to the parents of the qualifiers after the district competitions.
